Code of Conduct
Art. 1 With code of conduct we mean all the behaviour rules that both teaching and non teaching staff (external consultants included) of the Institutes associate with Jean Monnet are asked to respect, in order to assure a teaching and research seriousness, in the respect not only of the duties of the law in force, but also of the Institution reliability.

Art. 2 The code of conduct (CCJM) is for executives, teachers and staff with teaching, research and management duties. They accept to respect CCJM as soon as they start working and/or are put in charge.

Art. 3 J.M. President and Board of directors assure the observance of the Code of Conduct and, in case, the appliance of the necessary sanctions.

Art. 4 Teachers, employees and consultants of the Institutions associate with Jean Monnet have great respect for the laws of Belgium, for the laws of the UE and for the moral principles each Community has. In their social and professional life teachers, employees and consultants avoid any situation or behaviour that could damage the interests and image of Université J.M. They safeguard dignity, reputation, honesty and prestige of the community they belong to. They are scrupulous and prudent about guaranteeing scientifically any kind of initiative. The name and logo of Universitè Jean Monnet can be used only if authorized

Art. 5 In the respect of the new European Constitution, mainly of its articles in favour of the development of culture, of scientific and technological research, of art and science independence and of freedom to teach such subjects, teachers and tutors of the Institutes associate with Jean Monnet will make any effort in order not to influence the students ideologically. Teachers and tutors will not impose their authority but will respect everyone�s opinion.

Art. 6 The teachers of the Institutes associate with Jean Monnet are not allowed to propagandize during their teaching time. In particular during election time, they are not allowed to propagandize any political idea inside the school, even if they are among the candidates.

Art. 7 The teachers of the Institutes associate with Jean Monnet are not allowed to ask a colleague for a priviledge or to grant a favour, unless in a regular and professional context.

Art. 8 Teachers assure every student equal treatment. During the exams teachers will not consider any kind of recommendation in favour of the students or against them. Should they get such recommendation, either written or spoken, they will refuse them and will inform Jean Monnet Board of Directors.

Art. 9 Jean Monnet teachers refrain from examining their relatives or livings

Art. 10 Jean Monnet teachers, employees and consultants are asked to inform about their activity at a different Institution, above all if in the same fields as the ones of Universitée.

Art. 11 In order to obtain better and better results, Jean Monnet teachers always keep themselves up to date: they renew and bring both their syllabus and educational materials up to date. Moreover, according to the current European regulations, teachers have to attend professional updating courses at least every two years.

Art. 12 Teaching programmes of the schools and training Institutes associate with Jean Monnet have to be approved by the specific institutional authority. Likewise, teachers, employees and consultants of the Institutions associate with Jean Monnet have to be identified when they join Jean Monnet: they have to introduce themselves properly and fully; their curricula will be sent by the associate Institute to the institutional and supervisor Jean Monnet authorities.

Art. 13 Teachers, employees and consultants of the Institutes associate with Jean Monnet will not use, without written authorization, the name, logo, headed paper and any other Jean Monnet material for professional purpose.

Art. 14 Respect and good manners will be the basis of the relationship that Jean Monnet teachers, employees and consultants have with the staff and the students.

Art. 15 Jean Monnet teachers respect the intellectual property of their colleagues (of the school they belong to and of any national or international institution), of the researchers and of the students who are researching and preparing their thesis. If they are depositories of archieve materials and books, they will take care of the preservation of the same and will let them be consulted.

Art. 16 Jean Monnet Board of Directors will appoint the members of a supervision and control committee every three years. The committee will control that the rules of this code of conduct are respected by the Institutes associate with Jean Monnet, by their teachers, employees and consultants. If necessary, the committee will take disciplinary action, according to Jean Monnet statute. The committee will be allowed to modify and optimize the rules of the Code of Conduct according to the new European rules.
