Details - As part of a small Brussels-based team reporting to the Director EU Affairs:
- Identify emerging issues and keep members and other OGP staff informed of the development of current legislative proposals and policies relevant to European and worldwide oil and gas exploration and production.
- Facilitate the assessment of implications and provide advice on appropriate responses.
- Establish member task forces, manage their meetings and help draft information and proposals.
- Coordinate and conduct constructive representation vis-à-vis the EU institutions, related industry associations and other stakeholders.
Qualifications and skills:
- A minimum of 15 years' experience in the energy sector, preferably in oil & gas activities.
- Understanding of energy supply and related geo-politics. If not already a technical expert, a keen interest in and an ability to grasp quickly technical matters related to oil and gas exploration and production.
- Understanding of the structure of the EU institutions and the legislative processes.
- Excellent presentation and communication skills; comfortable in front of large audiences; an ability to listen and to provide necessary information to our stakeholders in a concise manner.
- A skillful facilitator in reaching the highest common denominator amongst members and with other OGP stakeholders.
- An ability to produce clear and concise minutes and reports and to draft reader-friendly information and position papers.
- A University graduate.
- Excellent spoken and written English is a prerequisite; fluency in other EU languages will be beneficial.
- Diplomatic, self-starting as well as a good player in a small team.
- Regular use of Internet and Microsoft Office applications.

A fixed term post has arisen in the Brussels office in the field of EU Justice and Home Affairs (civil and criminal law). This offers an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic team responsible for analysing and monitoring EU proposals by seeking improvements to law, practice and procedure and lobbying for change. As JHA policy advisor you will be required to analyse and provide expert policy advice on the impact of relevant JHA developments on domestic policies through regular contact with specialist Committees and policy advisors in the UK. You will have the opportunity to represent at a high level the interests of the Law Societies on external committees and in developing relations to with other stakeholders.
The ideal candidate should possess:
- Degree level or equivalent level of education;
- Knowledge of substantive EU law, policy making and procedures. Specialist knowledge of JHA matters desirable;
- Four years’ experience working in the field of EU policy in one of the following: private practice; within the EU institutions; lobby group; policy related employment or other relevant employment;
- The ability to analyse and understand the policy implications of EU initiatives and legislative proposals;
- The ability to research and prepare policy papers and to explain complex issues clearly and concisely;
- Fluent English and French and knowledge of other EU languages an asset;
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, including tact and diplomacy, in dealing with a wide range of individuals and building good networks of contacts;
- The ability to work independently and under pressure to tight deadlines. Good personal organisational skills;
- The ability to work as part of a team;

Details Over the last ten years, with the aid of a broad base of funding, ILGA-Europe has established an office in Brussels to work for the equality of lesbian, gay, and bisexual persons within the context of the EC anti-discrimination programme and the European Convention on Human Rights. ILGA-Europe lobbies European institutions of EC, Council of Europe and OSCE. We also have a programme of actions to enhance the capacity of lobbying at national level by members and to represent the national level issues at European level. ILGA-Europe works within the framework of a strategic plan 2008-2011.
The job
The post holder will be responsible for providing policy, lobbying and capacity building services to support ILGA-Europe's advocacy of LGBT rights at the European level. In particular the post holder will work with our member organisations to implement and influence European level policies in the areas of equality and non-discrimination outside employment – with a particular focus on access to services, education and health..
Candidates should be strongly committed to working for this cause, and have competencies and experience in developing, presenting and implementing policy proposals, in developing advocacy campaigns, in developing capacity building strategies to support policy development, working with members and external partners.
Other requirements are:
- A solid knowledge of human rights international standards
- A good knowledge of human rights and equality issues, particularly as they relate to lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and intersex people
- A high standard of written and spoken English
- An excellent knowledge of at least one European institution (European Union, the Council of Europe and the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe)
Useful additional experience/knowledge could include:
- Experience of working in an NGO and/or another human rights institution
- A solid knowledge of other European institutions (European Union, the Council of Europe and the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe)
- A working knowledge of French or another major European language
Gross salary:
The salary scale for the post is €41,387 and €46,162 – over four points. This is inclusive of the holiday pay. The post is being offered at the first point of the scale. The contract will be for one and half year, with a possibility of being renewed.
In addition there is a pension scheme in operation, a hospitalisation insurance scheme and 25 days annual leave.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

We are currently looking for a highly motivated intern to join our team for a period of 6 months to assist with various activities related to:
- The management and quality control of the TEMATEA website
- Implementation of projects in multiple locations
- Administrative and logistical support
Tasks and Responsibilities
Working within the TEMATEA Secretariat, the intern will, in order of priority:
• Provide a range of administrative and logistical support functions on a day-to-day basis
• Provide assistance in proof-reading and quality control of the TEMATEA website
• Assist in the implementation of TEMATEA projects
• Contribute to the logistical aspects of the organization of conferences and meetings
• Occasionally attend meetings and report on them
• Support the work of the TEMATEA Secretariat team in the development of project proposals, project management and the strengthening of ties and communication with partners and donors.
Opportunities for integrating study related interests into the tasks and activities may be offered in collaborationwith the Project Coordinator.
Conditions
The internship is unpaid but € 600 per month will be provided for living costs. Candidates must be registered
students in an academic institution within the European Union for the duration of the internship.
Key qualifications
• A keen interest in and basic understanding of issues relating to biodiversity policy and international
environmental law
• Good organizational, administrative, reporting and communication skills
• Creative, with an ability to work independently, think out-of-the-box and meet tight deadlines
• Excellent written and spoken English and fluent in either Russian, Spanish or French
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications. Knowledge of website management and/or Drupal are
an asset
• Basic understanding of global biodiversity-related conventions and their structure. Experience in the
